Autumn  2004 Issue

In Memory of Mark Zinni

We were all deeply saddened to hear Mark Zinni, age 38 and one of Gateway Resources first program participants had passed away suddenly in his sleep last month.  Gateway Resources had placed Mark at Frank’s Nursery in Norristown in 1986, where he continued to thrive and grow in the nursery environment as a yard associate.  We will miss him and always remember him fondly.

David Kimber From A-Z

In October 2003 David Kimber became the newest Associate in customer service at the Market of Lafayette Hill. The new owners of this market created a position for David that offers a winning combination. One day a week you’ll find David busy with a routine that includes mopping, sweeping, dusting and helping customers by bagging their groceries. David takes pride in his work and is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asks.

The Market’s manager, Dan Belfield, explains, “David is an exceptional worker, takes pride in what he accomplishes and is a pleasure to have around the store.”

David continues his busy schedule with volunteering 3 days a week at the Elmwood Park Zoo. He has been with the Zoo since February 1996 as part of the maintenance crew. David loves being around the different animals as his routine of sweeping takes him from The Barn to The Bayou, and onto the Prairie Dogs. He ends his day in the office where he’s sure to bring a smile to co-workers.

David finds time to participate in Special Olympics year round. He enjoys the long jump, bowling, and track and field to name a few. In his spare time you may find David taking part in the social activities of field trips, the theatre, and mini travel trips.

So from Associate employee to Zoo volunteer David Kimber remains an exceptional young man who can be counted on to arrive for work rain or shine, year round!
